SpaceX readies for launch with a big engine test. It's The Daily Crunch.

SpaceX readies for its biggest ever launch, Snapchat's VP of Product leaves it all behind, and Logan Paul apologetically returns. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for January 25, 2018.

1. SpaceX nears first Falcon Heavy launch

SpaceX completed a very important step in its mission to launch Falcon Heavy, a high-capacity rocket platform it hopes will help it open up new client opportunities. The rocket, which has three-times the engines and cargo capacity of the Falcon 9, ran a static test fire on Wednesday.

The static fire means that we should see a launch in as little as a week, according to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. It'll be a blast, regardless of the outcome.

2. Snapchat's VP of Product is leaving Snap – and tech

Yeah get out there and see the world – there's more to it than tech. This is an extreme departure, and I wonder whether Snapchat's trajectory has anything to do with that.

3. YouTuber Logan Paul is back

The dumb guy who posted the video of the dead man to his YouTube channel has returned. His first video back seems like a decent attempt to reflect on exactly what he did wrong, and how he can make good.

4. 50 Cent hodls (note to my copy editor Chris Nesi – this is not a typo, just an extremely 'with it' Bitcoin reference)

50 Cent is a Bitcoin millionaire, it turns out (even after the dip in value), since he sold his 2014 album for Bitcoin, amassing around 700 at the time.

5. Sonos pre-empts HomePod with Sonos One deal

The HomePod isn't quite here yet, but Sonos wants you to choose its new smart speaker instead, so it's selling two for $349, which is $50 discount and the same price as just a single HomePod from Apple. It's a better deal, in case you were wondering.

6. CamSoda is doing virtual sex with robots of course

The image for this article says it all, so go ahead and have a look. I'm not spending any more time on it.

7. YouTube Gaming is growing at a rapid clip – but so is Twitch, which is far ahead

YouTube's game streaming business is growing very quickly. Like by over 300 percent per year. Twitch is growing fast, too, but we'll see whether these eventually meet up somewhere, or whether Google can make up the difference.
