Let's go! | | | 💻 Code with ChatGPT: OpenAI announced funding yesterday, and today it's announcing a new feature. OpenAI is launching Canvas, a workspace for writing and coding that allows users to highlight sections of their work to have ChatGPT edit. Read more 📢 Yay, more ads: If you thought Google's AI summaries were annoying, it's getting worse; now they will include ads. The company is also rolling out AI-organized search page results in the U.S. this week. Read more ❌ Opting out: A few weeks ago, Meta confirmed that it was going to start training its AI on Instagram and Facebook posts from folks in the U.K. While the company's language would imply you can't opt out, you can. It's updating its YouTube Shorts capabilities to allow for users to upload longer videos and access templates, among other new features. Read more 🚗 Five recalls is a lot: Tesla's Cybertrucks are facing their fifth recall. The current issue involves unreliable rearview camera imaging that is delayed and showing up blank. Cybertrucks just hit the road last November. Read more 🔁 Initialized restructures: Last night, Initialized Capital announced it was restructuring. The firm let go of two of its partners and shed a number of other staff positions. The firm also announced it promoted three principals to partner. Read more ⚙️ Enterprise error: Hackers have started exploiting another vulnerability in Ivanti Endpoint Manager, which helps companies manage remote devices. This isn't the first potential security issue Ivanti has had to disclose this year. Read more 📳 Knockoff scheme: Today the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it sentenced two men from China for their role in defrauding Apple. The men sent more than 6,000 knockoff iPhones with fake serial numbers to Apple to get replaced with real ones. Read more ✅ On a voyage to fix AI: AI hallucinations are a big roadblock to widespread adoption of the tech — especially for enterprise customers. There are many companies looking to solve this problem. Voyager is one of them; the company recently raised $20 million. Read more 🤖 Inspector robot: Voliro is building flying robots with the hopes that they will replace humans in dangerous inspections of structures like wind turbines or overwater structures. The company just landed another $12 million in funding. Read more 🌚 Moon water!: Argo Space Corp is looking to build a reusable orbital transfer vehicle, which would facilitate in-space transportation and refuel it with water the company plans to harvest from the moon. It just raised $7.9 million. Read more | | | 🥳 Recruiting party: It's no secret that Elon Musk does everything a little differently. This apparently includes recruiting. Musk held a recruiting event for xAI this week that included live music being generated by code in real time. Read more 🇪🇺 TikTok troubles elsewhere: While TikTok is facing a potential ban in the U.S., it isn't smooth sailing for the social media company everywhere else. The Information reports that TikTok may soon face regulatory pressure in Europe, too.
